Greedy Cats

Last week we were reading the big book "Greedy Cat".  To follow on from this we decided to create our own cat faces for art.  Students had to look carefully at size and position as they sketched their cat faces onto paper.  Look at the great results!

My Writing

Yanni, Wow! Your basic word recall has grown and with support you are beginning to use your alphabet sounds to spell longer words. You are learning to use finger spaces, capital letters and full stops in your writing and you always take care to present your work neatly. Well done!

Cherry Blossom Tree

As part of our Spring celebrations we created a picture of a tree with blossoms.  First students practised sketching leaves and following that we explored the different shapes of trees.  Students then painted the trunk and branches as well as a background.  The final step was to draw and cut out leaves and grass, and then create blossoms using coloured tissue paper.  A lot of learning went on during this piece of art as students used their fine motor skills to add details to their work.

Celebrating Spring

In Room 27 we have been learning about Spring.  To celebrate our learning we decided to have a teddy bears picnic.  We made delicious cupcakes, yummy old fashioned lemonade and nga tamariki were able to bring a teddy bear from home.  We really enjoyed the lemonade and cupcakes.  Some students noticed that "the cupcakes were really sweet and the lemonade was quite sour but they tasted yummy together".  We weren't scared off by the wet Spring weather either with students exclaiming "our picnic needs to be outside".  Thankfully the rain held off just long enough for us to enjoy our Spring feast.

Our Trip to Bunnings

Two weeks ago we went on a class trip to Bunnings.  Nga tamariki had an amazing time putting their building skills to the test and adding their own personal flair to their creations.

Yanni, I know you really enjoyed the challenge of putting your truck together.  You found some parts a bit tricky but you kept on persevering and didn't give up.

Ka pai!
